Fun Summer Drinks Recipes

I have to admit I'm extremely lazing when it comes to getting my daily intake of fruit and vegetables, although I haven't yet figured out what my excuse is...whether it's living in a shared house with a very small fridge and not having much space for fresh fruit or having a very busy lifestyle and fruit going off too quickly after I buy it! Luckily I've found a solution to up the amount of fruit I'm having and that's by making smoothies and juices.

I often buy frozen fruit as it lasts so much longer and there is no preparation required. Every morning I just chuck a handful of frozen strawberries or mango into a blender along with a banana and some water then blitz it and it's ready in seconds! There's no mess or fuss as I pour it straight into a bottle and drink it on my way to work.

I've also been experimenting with some fun cocktail and healthy juice recipes online including a frozen strawberry daiquiri (so much fun and perfect for house parties!) and a pineapple and mango sorbet. You can find the recipes below courtesy of The Ideas Kitchen:

  • Pineapple and Mango Sorbet
  • 100g pineapple, 100g mango, 2 tbsp yoghurt
  • Either use fresh fruit, which can be chopped and frozen, or prepared frozen fruit, then mix in a blender and add a scoop of yoghurt - it is so quick and simple to make!

  • Frozen Strawberry Daiquiri
  • 500g strawberries, 1/2 limes, White Rum, Sugar
  • The Daiquiri is a classic cocktail, and made even better with fresh, ripe strawberries! Alternatively, use frozen strawberries to make the drink even more refreshing. Just blitz everything together in a blender or juicer and enjoy.
