There were five products on this month's box - most looked like new launches, some I'd seen before and all were minis. Here is the run down of each:
Benefit They're Real Double the Lip. This is a two-in-one lipstick and liner as it is shaped like a teardrop with a liner at the top and lipstick at the bottom. Just position the pointed tip along the upper line and sweep on, then flip upside down for the bottom lip. As previously mentioned, I could select my shade from a choose of two, either Pink Thrills or Lusty Rose, in advance. I went for Pink Thrills which is a slightly brighter shade. I was disappointed to see it was only a mini sample of the lipstick in the box instead of a full size.
Balance Me Instant Lift Primer. I've tried a few Balance Me products in the past but have seen they've completely redesigned their packaging and gone for a more grown up look now. This primer is described as a perfecting skin smoother that lifts and redefines skin.
Korres Santorini Vine Shower Gel. I'm already a huge fan of Korres and have loads of their minis in my stash. For someone who has never tried Korres before this will be an exciting addition to the beauty box but I wasn't too overwhelmed...this shower gel does smell great though and is always handy for gym or travel bags.
Batiste 2-in-1 Invisible Dry Shampoo & Conditioner. This is another new addition and one I was looking forward to trying. It's a new take on dry shampoo that essentially doesn't dry your hair out as much as the original Batiste and conditions the ends while tackling oil at the roots. Seems like a good idea and the can will be handy for popping in my handbag but unfortunately this size won't do much for my long hair and will run out after a few uses.
Bobbi Brown Multi-Mask Kit. While these looked really exciting, again I was disappointed by how small the samples were - I feel like someone could pick these up for free at a Bobbi Brown counter and aren't really benefiting by getting them through Birchbox? These are three custom masks (Detox for oily skin, Radiance Boost for dull skin and Skin Nourish for dry skin) so you can multi-mask and switch up your face mask exactly how you like. I like the idea of this as more skincare brands are realising that face masks aren't a 'one type fits all' affair and means I can target breakout zones on my nose and forehead while nourishing my dry cheeks! Again, sadly I think they'll be used up after just a couple of uses.
While I was really excited by the new products in the box I was disappointed by a lot of the mini sizes and wasn't entirely sure that this month's box was worth the price tag. I'd at least hoped for larger sizes or one full size.
