Cushion makeup seems to be everywhere at the moment - easy, portable compacts where the makeup is soaked into a cushion and applied with a sponge by pressing down on the cushion to save the hassle of separate bottles, brushes and mirrors. Loads of high end brands have jumped on the trend, which started in Korea, and I've even seen some start introducing cushion blushes. So I was especially excited when The Body Shop brought out their version of the cushion foundation because I knew it would be affordable but still deliver amazing results.
When you open the compact you have a mirror and sponge on the top, which flips to the side to reveal the cushion foundation. I pressed the sponge into the cushion once and pressed it into my skin and it immediately made my skin look fresh, healthy and radiant. The coverage was quite light and I usually prefer a fuller coverage so I did have to build it up and apply it a couple of times. I also found it started to fade throughout the day so I did need to touch up in the afternoon.
For me, the best thing about the compact is the sponge. It's different to any other foundation sponge I've tried and is more of a pad, so it actually transfers the foundation on to my face without absorbing it and going sticky or greasy. I love that is has a little bit on the back to slot your fingers on to too so you don't have to grip on to the end of the sponge. There was no mess at all and the foundation easily went on to the sponge without spilling everywhere. It is ideal for applying on the go or for touch ups!
When my skin is feeling a little tired and delicate I use this to look fresher and healthier.
The Body Shop Fresh Nude Foundation comes in five shades and costs £16.
