I have never bought a Glossybox before as my beauty box of choice is usually Latest in Beauty, but after seeing many good reviews and following them on Twitter I decided I had to make a purchase after sneak previews of the special edition September box kept popping up on my social media feed! This month's box was created in collaboration with the Editor of Red magazine, hence it being a bright shade of red.
There was a sneak preview of one of the items in the box - Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara, which everyone raves about, so I really wanted to try that out and see what else was inside...
I placed my order right before I went away on holiday so it was a nice treat to come home and find it waiting for me, right in time for some well-needed pampering. The box contains six items - two skincare and four makeup. Five of the items are the same across all boxes but after looking at some reviews and blog posts about what everyone else received in their boxes it looks like the sixth product is a 'surprise' product and varies across each box. Here's what I got inside mine...
Vitamasque Hydro Sheet Mask (full size)
I've never heard of Vitamasque before but am a huge fan of sheet masks as they are more convenient and less messy than regular face masks! This mask promises 120 hours of hydration (the equivalent of five days - big claim!) in the form of a gel sheet.
The Body Shop Himalayan Charcoal Face Mask (5ml sample)
I'm really excited about The Body Shop's new range of face masks. I actually got a sample of the purifying mask free with Stylist magazine not too long ago and, while I really liked it and thought it was an amazing mask, I would have liked to see a different one from the range in the Glossybox or maybe a larger sample size as this is only good for one use!
Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara - Waterproof
I've been using a lot of sample-sized mascaras recently as they're so handy for popping in my travel makeup bag and I find the full sized ones usually end up going dry or lumpy quickly. I was particularly excited about the inclusion of this Too Faced beauty classic as I have heard good things and can't wait to try it out!
Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy Diamond Top Coat
I've never actually seen this product before but after a bit of googling it looks like it needs to be used alongside a gel polish to get the full 'gel nail' effect...I wonder if this is true or all just a gimmick? I have a couple of gel effect polishes in my collection so it will be interesting to test this and see how it works!
GOSH Long Lasting Lip Marker
As I mentioned earlier, each Glossybox has a varying 'surprise' gift in and this was mine - a pink, felt-tip lip marker from GOSH. While this looks nice I didn't think it was anything particularly exciting seeing as some boxes had a L'Occitane face wash inside. I have a lot of pink lipsticks and wear them on a daily basis so I'm sure this will come in handy and will get used at some point, but personally I thought this product was slightly underwhelming.
Rodial smoky eye pen
Now this one I was excited about! Rodial is one of my favourite brands at the moment and all their makeup is to die for. I'm not the biggest eye makeup wearer but will definitely be wearing this on nights out. It is a kohl eyeliner with a very rich pigment and gel-effect.
Overall I was pretty impressed with this month's Glossybox and am looking forward to trying out some new products, however, for the price and the fact this is a limited edition box I would have liked to see one or two extra things in there!
