The Fabyouless Card.

Today's post is a very quick one on something I thought you might all be interested in....

The Fabyouless card is a discount card solely for the beauty, hair and fitness industry. It offers you 25% off or 2 for 1 offers at loads of venues across the country. You can use it as often as you like and save money every time.

There is a venue search on the Fabyouless website so you can find out which venues accept the card and what discounts they offer. In my area it is redeemable on a range of spas, hairdressers, tanning salons and beauty salons.

It costs just £29.95 for a 12 month membership and you can find out more or buy one online here. I think it is such a great idea as there are so many discount card out there for restaurants etc but nothing tailored specifically for beauty!

Summer Fashion Haul ft Primark, Topshop, Warehouse...

Today I spent far too many hours (and pennies) in town as I had a major summer clothing haul. I'd say my wardrobe is generally quite boring and there is a lot of basics in there but I often spend a lot of money on staple items so that I can mix and match outfits and have plenty of options for workwear.

Firstly I bought these blue and orange quilted tops from Warehouse for £28 each. These will be perfect for work and I love the bright colours.

I also got these bags in Warehouse as they were on sale and cost £10 each! I love clutch bags but recently broke mine and I thought the black bag would make an ideal small handbag for going out.

Next I got this Topshop skirt which was also on sale and was a bargain at £7. I often wear pencil skirts to work but only have plain coloured ones so I thought this would be something different to wear with a plain top.

This peplum top was also from Topshop and cost £22. I have a lot of dark coloured work tops so I thought this would be something a bit more light and summery and it's pretty basic so will go with everything.

Also in Topshop I bought this white vest for £18. I'm not too sure about it and might swap it for something else as it does seem pretty basic for £18 but it was a bit of an impulse buy as I was exchanging some trousers that didn't fit and didn't know what to get! Although it's quite plain the layering gives it some detail and it is nice and floaty so I thought it would be good for my holiday.

Then I got this floral print top from Primark for £5. I am in love with the print and it will be perfect for when the weather warms up a bit! I wasn't too sure about the chain straps but when I tried it on my hair covered the straps so I wasn't too worried!

I also bought these treggings in Primark which were another bargain for £6. They were so comfy I thought they'd be perfect for lounging around at the weekends and the quilted panels on the side are a nice details and make them look really stylish when they're on.

On to H&M next and I got this white cardigan from their basics range as I don't actually own a white cardigan and thought I need to stop wearing black!

I also picked up this quilted black jacket for £29.99. I need a lighter jacket for when the weather warms up and this looked very smart so thought it would be ideal for work. As I was leaving H&M I saw they had it in orange as well and it was so gorgeous I was tempted to get it but I think I will hold back and get it another day!

(Yes I bought a lot of white today...) I don't actually own a plain white t-shirt so I picked this one up. It was great value for £7 and has a sheer panel along the top and bottom I thought it would look good with coloured trousers or skirts!

April Love Me Beauty Box Review

This month's Love Me Beauty box caught my eye when I saw someone posted a picture of it on Instagram recently. I don't usually buy beauty boxes as I am trying to save my money and I have only bought one before - the Latest in Beauty Glamour Edit box - but I think they are a great idea. After reading a couple of reviews I decided to get this for myself as it is such good value for money and I knew I would get good use out of all of the products.

So for £10 this box came with...

  • Neal & Wolf Daily Cleansing Shampoo (full size). I love Neal & Wolf products as they smell amazing and make your hair soft and shiny. I think this shampoo costs around £7 on it's own.
  • Models Own nail polish in Fuzzy Peach (full size). This is worth £5 on it's own and I love the peach colour - perfect for summer!
  • Redken Colour Xtend Conditioner (30ml). Redken is an amazing haircare brand and this conditioner will come in very handy for my summer travels as I won't have to carry a huge bottle around with me. There is plenty for me to get a few uses out of it. I don't actually colour my hair but my blonde hair often fades and I sometimes use products for coloured hair to keep it looking bright.
  • Betty Hula Anti-Ageing Wonder Oil Rollerball (10ml). I am a big fan of facial oils and it seems like they are very popular at the moment as I got a Balance Me mini rollerball in my Latest in Beauty Box, however, although everyone raved about it I have to admit I didn't like it that much and ended up giving it to someone else because it made my skin so greasy! Hopefully it isn't the same case with this. I have never heard of Betty Hula products before so I'm looking forward to giving it a try.
Last but not least I got a £25 gift card for Hello Fresh! - a weekly recipe and ingredients box - this made me very excited as I have been looking at their service for a while and I can't wait to try it out. I often get stuck for recipe ideas and can't wait to put this voucher to good use.

All in all I thought this month's Love Me Beauty Box was excellent value for money and a lovely treat for the end of the month! You can subscribe to Love Me Beauty box here with plenty of different subscription options.

Clinique Cheek Pop & Moisture Surge CC Cream Compact

Clinique recently released the Moisture Surge CC Cream Compact Hydrating Colour Corrector SPF 25, the latest treatment product that's perfect for achieving a flawless appearance in a convenient, portable compact. An alternative form of choice to the original Moisture Surge CC Cream, the compact offers the same benefits to immediately create natural, glowing skin.

Product details:
-Moisture Surge CC Cream Compact Hydrating Colour Corrector SPF 25 is rich in moisturising agents that comfort dry and thirsty skin upon application to provide all-day moisture. With continued use, it conditions the skin and improves skin's moisture barrier.
-The new, silky formula also incorporates colour correcting technology to achieve naturally radiant and healthy looking skin. Moisture Surge CC Cream Compact Hydrating Colour Corrector SPF 25 has colour correcting optics to visibly correct a range of complexion concerns. Dull, ashy skin appears bright; sallow, yellow skin turns into a peachy glow; and blotchy redness is neutralised. Skin imperfections are immediately corrected for a virtually flawless look, leaving skin with a radiant finish.
-The formula also incorporates a blend of sunscreens for UVA/UVB protection to protect the skin from environmental assaults for healthy looking skin.

Moisture Surge CC Cream Compact Hydrating Colour Corrector SPF 25 is a multi-functional formula with a refreshingly lightweight texture that glides on effortlessly, leaving skin soft, smooth and supple.

My thoughts
I am very excited by this product as compact foundations are so handy for touch ups during the day. I will be keeping this in my bag and taking it with me wherever I go. I love the packaging, it is very sleek and elegant and the fact it is mirrored will make it very handy to apply!

The cream comes in six shades which is great as I think BB Creams and CC Creams are often limited in their shade range and it is hard to match one to your skin. I got the shade 'light' and it is actually a lot darker than I expected but I think it will be perfect for when I have more of a tan in summer (fingers crossed!) people with fair skin should probably go for a shade lighter than this.

It is suitable for Clinique's type 1 and 2 skin types and provides moderate coverage. It is very sheer and gives a naturally radiant finish.

RRP £30. Available from April 25.

I also recently got the new 'Cheek Pop' from Clinique, which was released last month. Cheek Pops is a cream to powder blush that provides a lovely natural dose of colour!

Product details
-Cheek Pop imparts only the purest colour to provide a natural blush look with absolutely no trace of powder or buildup on cheeks. The silky formula achieves effortless colour that is vibrant and long-lasting.
-The formula begins as a smooth liquid, which is then transformed through a slow baking process into a new distinct powder feel that's lightweight in texture and silky smooth to the touch.

My thoughts

The packaging on this is beautiful. It comes in a clear compact with a daisy embossed on the powder. It comes in four different shades that compliment different skin tones and give you that natural glowing flush. I got the shade 'Berry Pop' - I have recently been using Benefit's Hervana blusher and while I love it it is a little too purpley toned for my skin so this bright pink shade will compliment my skin a lot more nicely!

RRP £16.50

Summer Preparation: The sun cream.

When it comes to sun cream I'm one of those people that runs to the shops and buys a new bottle of it every time the first peek of summer comes as I forgot there is already a half-used one in my cupboard. So naturally over time I have developed a collection of different sun creams and am now well prepared for my summer holiday to Turkey this year!

I prefer to use separate sun creams for my face and body as my skin in quite blemish prone and sun cream can often clog my pores. For my face I use Piz Buin radiant face cream, which helps stop the skin drying out in the sun and is also non-comedogenic and sweat and water resistant, and Apivita suncare, which comes in both a tinted and un-tinted formula so if you want a little coverage it is perfect to wear out and about during the day!

As for the body I always go for a high factor at the start of my holiday then gradually drop down - my skin is extremely fair and burns very easily! I recently picked up the Lancaster cream from TK Maxx, which helps to firm the skin and supports tanning while protecting it, and two cans of sun mousse.

Sun Mousse has a light moussey texture that's easy to apply and non sticky. It comes in a range of factors and has high factors for kids too. I picked up the SPF 30 and 20. I tested this out on my skin and absolutely love it! Finding the perfect sunscreen with all the right elements can be a challenge. Greasiness, harsh chemicals, constant application are  just a few of the things which cause many to shy away from staying protected. Enjoying the sun should be effortless. The constant worry of re-applying sunscreen after a swim in the pool, rubbing of sand caused by greasy residue and concerns of reactions can turn a holiday into a nightmare.

You just shake the can and tip it upside down to disperse the product and out comes a light whipped mousse! When you apply it on the skin it does feel a bit more creamier so it takes a bit of rubbing in for it to be absorbed but it left my skin feeling incredibly soft and wasn't sticky at all. I can't wait to take these on holiday as they are so quick to apply and will be perfect for topping up my protection throughout the day and popping in my bag to take out and about with me. Sun Mousse costs £19.99.

Cocoa Brown One Hour Tan Review

Cocoa Brown's One Hour Tan is one of the most hyped about products on the internet - and I can see why! The mousse formula delivers bronzed, radiant skin in just one hour and leaves you with a natural looking tan for days.

I am a regular user of fake tan and am always trying out different brands. Although I had read about Cocoa Brown tan before and seen it in all the shops I never got round to trying it until recently.

Unlike some mousse formulas, which come in a pump action, this comes in an aerosol can and the tan is very light and air-whipped - similar to hair mousse! It glides on the skin and dries almost instantly so I don't need to let it develop overnight, I can just put it on in the mornings and get dressed straight afterwards! As for the colour, this is very light and natural. I often prefer to go for a darker tan so I feel like I need a couple of layers of this or need to reapply it throughout the week for it to show up but for those that like a lighter tan or are new to using fake tan this is perfect! I also like to use a different range of shades of fake tan depending on the weather so this will be ideal for winter when I want more of a soft tan rather than looking tangoed.

Cocoa Brown One Hour Tan is amazing value for £7.99. There are also loads of other great tanning products in the Cocoa Brown range including an instant wash off tan and a one hour tan in a mousse formula.

Sleep In Rollers Review

The world and his wife know about and have probably used Sleep In Rollers by now, and I am a little overdue with my review but I thought it was time I gave my thoughts on them. Sleep In Rollers are velcro rollers made of a soft material that flatten like a sponge so you can sleep in them overnight and wake up to wavy, bouncy hair.

I picked up this set of 20 blonde rollers (£17.95) that come with a free drawstring bag to store them in. There are loads of different option when it comes to Sleep In Rollers. You can get them in pink, blonde, brunette or black (to be honest the colour doesn't make much of a difference to me as you're going to be sleeping in them anyway!) and you can get them in different sized packs with the options of gift sets including pins, a how-to DVD, hair clips etc - the possibilities are endless! There are also smaller rollers for short hair and fringes and larger rollers to give extra bounce.

Now, on to the real question - can you actually sleep in them? The company claims that the rollers let you sleep in comfort but on two occassions I have tried to go to bed wearing them and have had to move them around afterwards to be able to let me lie flat and in the end I ended up taking them out halfway through the night. Having said that, they still make my hair voluminous and wavy and I now use them on my hair after I've blowdried it and before I go out in the evenings. They're certainly comfortable enough to put in your hair and leave in while you're getting ready and stay in place perfectly. Beforehand I was using some velcro rollers by Charles Worthington but they were really hard and never stayed in so I now use these in place of my normal rollers.

Have you tried Sleep in Rollers before? What do you think of  them?

The Q-BOPZ wireless speaker

QDOS, a designer of innovative accessories for iPhone, iPod, smartphones and tablets recently launched the B-BOPZ portable Bluetooth speaker that allows you to play music and answer phone calls on the go.

The Q-BOPZ comes in a range of colours and features a suction pad, enabling it to be stuck securely on to virtually any flat surface and to be used as a stand when attached to the back of a phone. I stick mine to my dressing table when I'm playing music while getting ready in the morning and put it in my car so I can use it as a Bluetooth speaker for phone calls.

The speaker can stream music from any Bluetooth device and delivers sound for up to seven hours - then you just charge it in a USB point. It is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand so is perfect for travelling, and the integrated microphone makes the Q-BOPZ ideal for taking hands-free calls. It also has buttons for volume control and last number redial.

I absolutely love this speaker - my bedroom is very boring as I don't have any speakers or radio system but I love to listen to music while I get ready in the mornings and this speaker delivers perfect sound without being too bulky or taking up too much room! The Q-BOPZ costs £29.99 and is available from www.qdossound.com or selected Phones 4U stores.

NARS & Aviator Hotel afternoon tea event

Last weekend I was lucky enough to attend a talk from Jane Richardson, NARS' lead makeup artist, at the Aviator Hotel in Farnborough. As the event took place the day before Mother's Day I took my mum along with me as an early treat! When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted with cocktails and shown to our seats in the hotel's brasserie area. Jane than gave a talk about she became involved and shared some of her skincare and makeup knowledge with us. The event was pretty full so Jane made the talk really interactive by walking around to the different areas of the restaurant and asking questions throughout and giving people the opportunity to ask questions at any point. The talk was so relaxed - I love that we weren't just sat in a conference room listening to Jane speak, we were all involved with the talk as well.

As a lover of NARS cosmetics I already knew a fare bit about the company but for someone like my Mum who had never heard of them before it was really interesting for her to learn about the brand.

After the talk we were provided with champagne and afternoon tea which consisted of sandwiches and the most beautifully designed cakes I have ever seen! There were queues of people wanting to go over and have a chat with Jane after but she spent time with everyone and was so helpful.

A few of the things she said that have stuck with me mainly relate to skincare - she emphasised how good the skin is at healing itself and how important it is to moisturise skin and not over exfoliate it or scrub it with harsh treatments! Make-up wise she told me not to be afraid of colour and go for bold lip colours, I told Jane about my fear of eyeshadow because it is so over powering on my eyes and she suggested experimenting with coloured eye liners and using eye colours on the bottom lash line instead of the top.
Another makeup tip I have picked up is the different areas that you can apply blusher on your face - rather than just putting it on the apples of your cheeks Jane suggested wearing it a bit higher on the cheekbones or going for a geisha look.

At the end of the event we took home a little goodie bag that had mini versions of NARS' gentle eye make up remover, an eye pencil, the pro-prime light optimizing primer, and a mini blush in the shade 'Deep Throat' which is a gorgeous soft baby pink colour. I have been using Benefit Hoola on my cheeks recently but the shade is a bit too purpley for my fair skin but 'Deep Throat' is the perfect shade for me to wear during the day time!

A big thank you to the Aviator Hotel and to Jane for a lovely afternoon!
