The Clarisonic is designed to cleanse skin six times better than using your hands alone. When you switch it on the brush head moves back and forth and gently extracts impurities out of your skin. It has a built-in timer that pauses momentarily and beeps when it is time to move on to another part of the face, providing you with a one-minute guided cleanse: 20 seconds on the forehead, 20 seconds on the nose and chin and 10 seconds on each cheek. Plus it is completely waterproof you can use it in the bath or shower.
Inside the box there is the Clarisonic Mia 2, a travel case, a mini Clarisonic Gel Cleanser and a charger. The only slightly annoying thing is that, as it is designed for travel and on the go use, the charger is a shaving plug so will you have to buy a shaver adaptor to be able to charge it in a normal plug socket. I picked one up from Tesco for £2 though so it's not too much of a big deal.
The handle has a power button - which you can use to pause the cycle when you are using it, and switches off automatically after one minute - and two different speed settings: low and normal, which can be altered depending on how sensitive your skin is.
I was so excited when my Clarisonic arrived in the post and couldn't wait to use it. I let it charge for 24 hours before my first use (the lights blink on and off while it was charging then stay solid once it is fully charged) then gave it a whizz this morning! You can use it with any cleanser but I decided to use it with the Clarisonic mini cleanser provided. I wet my skin and the brush, put the cleanser onto my face then used the Clarisonic.
It felt extremely gentle on my face and didn't feel like it was scrubbing at all but still felt effective at smoothing away any dry patches. After the first use my skin does looks a lot healthier already and I found my serum and moisturiser sunk into my skin a lot easier and are a lot more effective now. I have particularly bad skin on my chin and around my mouth but my blemishes are already starting to look less visible. The Clarisonic is meant to be gentle enough to use twice daily but I think I will only use it every couple of days for now and see how I get on with it.
Clarisonic Mia 2 Hollywood Lights Sonic Skin Cleansing Brush is a limited edition device, available in Selfridges or Clarisonic.co.uk, priced at £125 each. It is available in pink, purple or green.
Well I can see why everyone raves about Clarisonics so much! I have struggled with my skin for years but after using this just once it is already starting to look and feel better, I can't wait to use this as part of my regular skincare routine. Yes they are expensive but I'd say they are definitely worth it and are a great investment. Plus they come with a two-year warranty just in case it breaks. The mini size and protective case makes it perfect for travelling so I will be able to take it on holiday with me and to the gym too.
