E.L.F Studio Lip Exfoliator

This amazing product from e.l.f exfoliates lips to get rid of dry, flaky skin. It is infused with all sorts of skin loving ingredients like Vitamin E, Shea Butter, Avocado and Jojoba Oil.

I regularly get chapped lips and lip balm isn't enough to get rid of the dry flakes - it just works as a temporary solution. But this little genius invention is perfect for treating and smoothing lips, making a great prep for lip balm!

The thing I love most about this is the fact that it looks like a lip stick. The only other lip exfoliator I've tried is LUSH's Popcorn Lip Scrub. The LUSH scrub comes in a little pot so it can be a bit fiddly and messy (and also look a bit odd using it in public), and directs you to lick it off when you use it! The thought of licking dead skin off my lips really grosses me out so I then have to worry about rubbing sugar off my lips. This lip product stays in the stick so none of the exfoliating beads flake off - they just smooth away dead skin and you can rub over it with a moist tissue or wipe, ready to add lip balm! I follow it with Apivita Cocoa Butter lip balm.

The other great thing is that this is an absolute bargain! It costs just £3.75 and can be bought online here.

Primark Autumn Workwear Haul!

Hello! Some of you may already know, if you follow me on Twitter, that I have a new job! I am now officially a journalist after completing a Print Journalism degree at Nottingham Trent University and graduating in July. I am going to be a trainee reporter for my local newspaper and am absolutely over the moon! I will be starting my new job on Monday so went out and got myself some new smart clothes to wear and am so pleased with some of the things I picked up, which I thought I'd share with you...

Grey midi pencil skirt with velvet baroque detail £8.

Black blouse £8.

Navy blue shirt £9.

Burgundy red dipped hem shift dress £13.

Navy soft fabric blazer with anchor detail buttons and fold up sleeves £13.

While I was there I also picked up some basic shoes and argan oil for my hair!

Nude pumps £4 Argan Oil £2.50

I also thought I'd share with you this gorgeous diary I picked up from the Pound Shop! I love the floral design, it almost looks similar to Cath Kidston, it was a great bargain and will help keep me organised at work

Altogether I spent around £57 in Primark which is usually a lot for me but I recently bought myself some new work wear from ASOS when they had the 20% student discount and I managed to get a lot of similar things in Primark for half the price so as soon as my ASOS order arrives I will probably send a few things back to save myself a lot of money! All the items I bought are quite basic so they will make excellent wardrobe staples and I can mix and match things so they will last me a long time.

Have you picked up any Primark bargains recently? What are you buying for the change from Summer to Autumn?

New Soap & Glory Skincare range!

Soap & Glory lovers rejoice! The company's founder and facialist, Marcia Kilgore, has re-formulated and repackaged the brand's skincare. Not only has the range had a makeover but Marcia has also updated all the product's ingredients and formulations using her skincare knowledge!

I've used a few Soap & Glory skincare products before and am a huge fan, so was very excited about the new launch! Even if you've never tried a product from their skincare range before, what better time to purchase one when they are full of even more skin savvy ingredients!

The brand new skincare collection has started rolling into Boots stores and is available nationwide from September! Here are my thoughts on a few of the products I picked up...

L-R: Puffy Eye Attack eye cream, Glow Job tinted moisturiser, Scrub Atomic face polish, Make Yourself Youthful serum, The Fab Pore mask/peel.

Scrubatomic Amazing Daily Face Polish £9
The first thing to note about the new packaging is that it has been simplified a lot. The entire skincare range has now been split into four categories: For Daily Youth, The Fab Pore, Make Yourself Youthful and The Bright Stuff. Daily Youth are the skincare basics for everyday use, Fab Pore are products used to battle breakouts and combat oily skin, Make Yourself Youthful are anti-aging products, and The Bright Stuff and products to luminise and brighten the skin. All the products come in plain, white packaging (apart from Make Yourself Youthful which come in silver) and the colour of the writing co-ordinates to which range it is from (e.g pink for Daily Youth, green for Fab Pore).

For me, I was a little disappointed at the change in packaging as I think the quirky packaging is what makes Soap & Glory so well loved. But the simplicity does give it more of a sciency feel (if that's the right word to use!) and shows that the skincare is more than just fancy packaging and it really is more chemistry savvy. Plus the boxes that the products come in are still as cute and quirky as ever!

I prefer using scrubs on my face rather than normal face washes as I think they give a better deep clean so I'm glad I can use this face polish daily.

Puffy Eye Attack Turbo-Boost Hydragel £12.50

This eye cream helps to tackle dark circles & puffiness, and helps to firm and rehydrate the eye area. It also boost collagen production so skin looks younger, and soothes and moisturises to keep skin soft and supple.

The Fab Pore 2-in-1 Pore Purifying Mask & Peel £10
This is one of my favourite skincare products by Soap & Glory! From the moment you put it on you can feel it get to work straight away. This is a 15-minute clay facial peel to unclog pores and help 'problem skin' by smoothing, cleansing and purifying. It is formulated for oily/combination skin but people of any skin type can use it weekly for regular maintenance or every now and then if you suffer from a bad break out.

Similarly to Origins' Modern Friction, it is formulated with rice microbeads that smooth the skin and exfoliate.

Make Yourself Youthful Super Serum £20

This is an anti-wrinkle serum and moisturiser in one so there's no need to double up on products! It helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and rejuvenate tired skin. Ok, so at the age of 21 I don't have any wrinkles to reduce, but I'm determined to prevent skin aging as much as possible and all the long days at work and nights out that I'm still recovering from at university have taken their toll on my skin so I use this serum to keep it in tip top condition and perk my skin up the morning after a long night!

Glow Job Sunkissed Tinted Morning Moisture Flash £11

When I first picked up this "sunkissed" moisturiser I thought it would be a gradual tanner, but it actually transforms from moisturiser into instant self-tan as you apply it! It has tiny little bronzing pigment beads which burst and release a subtle tint of colour when you blend it into the skin.

Swatched on back of hand
Transforms into self tanner as you rub it in!
This tinted moisturiser gives a nice natural finish and sheer coverage so it's perfect to use on a make-up free day if you're still looking a bit pale and could do with a little perking up! I'm going on holiday next month and can't wait to take this with me as I find a lot of my tinted moisturisers and BB Creams may be too pale for me if my skin does tan so this will be perfect to use in the evening instead of foundation. This gives your skin a lovely, subtle glow. The tan is temporary and washes straight off so is ideal for special occasions or if you only need to look tanned for an evening.

As well as tanning, the moisturiser also contains Vitamin B to support the skin's barrier against pollution and irritation, and keeps it super soft!

The new Soap & Glory skincare products are available now from Boots stores.

What do you think of the updates to the Soap & Glory skincare range? Have you used any of these products before?

Bare Minerals Get Started Complexion Kit

I've been very intrigued about Bare Minerals foundations for a long time and always wanted to try them. The selling point for me was during the heatwave we had about a month ago when I was interning in London - after an hour's commute and a couple of hours in the hot office my foundation would practically slip off and I'd be a sweaty mess - so I wanted to see if Bare Minerals would stay on a bit better.

Bare Minerals is a make-up range created entirely from mineral ingredients. The foundations are a loose powder that you buff onto the skin. You can build up coverage for a flawless natural finish without looking like you are caked in make-up. Despite being a powder it doesn't dry out your skin and it helps to nourish and look after your skin, so you're actually doing your skin good while wearing it without clogging any pores.

The Get Started kits are the best way to get acquainted with the Bare Minerals foundation range. They normally cost £49 but I found a brand new one on Amazon for just £37 and I had a £25 gift voucher so I ended up paying just £12 for the kit! Bargain! The Get Started kits come in four different shades (Light, Medium, Tan and Dark) and contain:
  • Two bareMinerals Original Spf 15 Foundations (2g)
  • Original Mineral Veil finishing powder (2g)
  • Prime Time Foundation Primer (15ml)
  • Warmth All-Over Face Color (1.5g)
  • Full Flawless Face Brush
  • Flawless Application Face Brush
  • Maximum Coverage Concealer Brush
  • How-To DVD guide

Everything comes in this sleek black box, The kit is a great way of trying everything out as all the products are mini versions so if you enjoy what you use you can go on to purchase the full size foundation or if it doesn't work out for you you're not stuck with it! You get the perfect amount.

The foundation primer is a see-through mattifying primer. It works really well to smooth out skin but I find during the hot weather it can sometimes make my skin quite oily so I prefer to leave it out or use Benefit Porefessional instead.

I bought the light kit so the two foundations I received were Fairly Light and Light. The twist locks on the pots mean no product is wasted and it doesn't go everywhere when you open it! You can get just the right amount. It is so easy to apply, just tap a small amount into the foundation lid, swirl it around with the brush, tap off any excess and buff it onto the skin. The coverage is really sheer and natural - perfect for daytime where. It doesn't give as full a coverage as some other liquid foundations I have used but I hate my pores getting clogged up by foundation so this is perfect for everyday wear and I can save other foundations for special events. You can easily build up coverage and if I need to cover up any blemishes or dark circles the concealer brush disguises imperfections instantly! After applying the foundation I apply Warmth face powder to my cheeks, forehead and chin. This is just like a bronzer but very natural and matte. To finish off the look I sweep Mineral Veil powder all over my face. This is a soft focus translucent powder that creates an airbrush finish and makes the makeup look a lot softer.

Overall I am thrilled with the bareMinerals makeup. When my kit runs out I will be repurchasing the original foundation as it helped to clear up my spots and hasn't caused any breakouts either! The foundation lasts all day and I never have to re-apply or touch up throughout the day when I wear it. I can't recommend it enough to anyone!
