Hair Inspiration

So recently I've become a little obsessed with pastel hair and have been hunting down pictures all over the internet. The other day I decided I was going to chalk my hair, which was a big decision for me as I have never coloured my hair and everyone tells me not to because I'll never get my natural blonde colour back! But as chalking is a temporary thing I'm very excited to try it out. If I like the result I may even be brave and dye my hair lilac!

Hair Chalking!

This is it! After 20 years of not doing anything to my hair (yes I'm naturally this blonde) and vowing never to colour it, I'm about to do something crazy and chalk my hair!

I picked this lilac one up from Claires Accessories for £4 and they also did a mint green, peach, pink and yellow one! I've chosen to use hair chalk as it won't be as intense as dying it and supposedly they are easy to wash out (although I've heard otherwise!)

Has anyone used hair chalk before? Let me now your experiences! xo

GLAMGLOW: what all the fuss is about...

There is a lot of hype around GLAMGLOW face masks and I have seen numerous adverts for them in magazines and on the interenet. At £50 a jar it must be doing something seriously good, so when I was lucky enough to get two sample sachets in my goodie bag at the Birmingham Bloggers Meet Up last week I couldn't wait to try it out and see what all the fuss is about.

I was given a 5ml sample of the Youth-Mud Tingle Exfoliate Treatment and the Super-Mud Clearing Treatment. I decided to try the Tingle Exfoliate mask as this is the one I've heard most about.

On their website GLAMGLOW describes itself as:

"A serious WOW facial treatment for when you need great skin and a glowing complexion in just 10 minutes.
This performance driven super mask is an absolute must for those who seek the highest quality ingredients and exceptional results, even if you have never used a mask before – GLAMGLOW is unique. It doesn’t just take care of one skin concern, it delivers everything you need for great skin, whatever your skin type.
GLAMGLOW delivers both instant and cumulative results and leaves your complexion revived and glowing for 3 days after each application. With its heritage in Hollywood film studios, GLAMGLOW has flown off the shelves stateside and is now available in the UK"

On the packaging the face mask states it:
  • Leaves skin noticeably radiant and glowing
  • Provides gentle resurfacing exfoliation
  • Helps to leave skin smoother, brighter and softer
  • Provides tighter skin texture and tighter pores
  • Helps to provide a more youthful appearance
  • Absorbs impurities without removing natural oils
  • Helps to protect against free radical damageSounds good to me!
The clay mask contains little flakes - they aren't really that noticeable until it comes to washing it off - has a green tea scent. It goes on a dark green and dries a pale green colour (I did take a picture of me with the mask on but didn't want to scare you all!)

As soon as I put the mask on I felt the tingling sensation within a couple of minutes and the mask dried very quickly. My face felt very tight while it was on - literally couldn't move it! When it came to washing it off the mask loosened very quickly and this is when I noticed the grains in the mask, which I could massage into my skin.

My face felt really refreshed after, although it was a little red but I think this was because I hadn't used a scrub in so long! And it felt a little dry so I put some moisturiser on and can I say my skin never felt softer as I was rubbing the moisturiser in! It glided on so smoothly and when I put my makeup on later I looked a lot more healthy and fresh.

Due to the expensive price tag I don't think I'll be splurging out on this product any time soon but it was a lovely treat to try! I definitely think it is worth the money as the results were evident instantly. I wouldn't use this face mask very often as I have delicate skin so it could be a bit too harsh for my face but once a month this will deliver excellent results!

Have you tried the GLAMGLOW face mask? What other face masks do you use for your skin?

FOTN

Last night was one of my friend's 21st birthdays so we all went out in Nottingham to celebrate! For evening wear I like to use long lasting products so I don't have to re-apply throughout the night, and I usually use a little more bronzer and a darker lip colour.
The products I used were:
  • Rimmel 25 hour foundation
  • Rimmel match perfection bronzer
  • Benefit Sugarbomb
  • Benefit They're Real
  • 2True liquid liner
  • Rimmel lasting finish lipstick
  • MAC Studio Fix Powder

My Lipstick Collection..

Like many people I own a lot of lipsticks. Most of mine have gone unused at the bottom of my makeup bag whereas others are really starting to get past their time! I've seen a lot of lipstick posts so today I dug them all up and though I'd share them with you and show you my favourites.

Rimmel Lasting Finish in 014 - Sweetie and 004 - Indulgence.
Indulgence (right) is one of my favourite lipsticks, it comes out a soft Barbie pink colour and I usually wear it in the evening as it's a bit too bright for daytime. I haven't worn Sweetie as much but it is a nice fuschia colour suitable for nights out. I mainly stick to pink lips because of my hair and pale skin!

Revlon Super Lustrous in 720 - Fire & Ice
A lot of people have said rep lipsticks look good on blonde hair so I tried to convince myself they would suit me but I'm still yet to find one that does! Blondes are meant to suit shades that have a blue undertone but this more of an orangey coral red. This is one that has sat in my makeup bag unused as I'm not brave enough to wear red on a night out.

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable in 020- Lovesick Passionee
These balm stains are a cheaper alternative to Clinique Chubby Sticks. They are super moisturising and leave behind a hint of colour. I love this fuschia shade, it is subtle enough for daytime, and I'll be buying more of the pinky shades!
Rimmel Moisture Renew in 620 - Coral Queen
I got this lipstick in  a gift set a while ago for subscribing to a magazine. The moisture renew range isn't as drying on the lips as some others however it isn't moisturising like a balm. I don't often wear this coral colour but I might be adventurous and try it out soon.

Rimmel Colour Show Off in 020- Shake Up Pink & 220 - Shocking Pink
(Starting to notice a theme that most of my lipsticks are Rimmel?) As you can see, Shake Up Pink is one of my favourites and has seen a lot of wear! I love this for day and night wear, it is a really soft colour. Shocking Pink is more of a bright fuschia that I sometimes wear in the evening.

Barry M in 121
Another lipstick I got when trying to convince myself that red would look good on me! This one is more of a pillar box red and unfortunately doesn't do anything for my skin tone! Have any blondes found a good red lipstick that suits them? I'd love to know as I struggle with it!

Another of my favourites! Last year Topshop released a limited edition range of makeup and this lip tint in 'Crystal' was amongst it. This is a pinky lip tint that adapts your to own lip colour (to be honest I wasn't sure whether it did actually change colour or not and wasn't too fussed as I loved the colour anyway!). I was gutted when they stopped selling it and have been trying to hunt it down on Ebay or look for alternatives. I think I may have finally found an alternative - Loreal's Universal Lip Glow!

FOTD featuring Benefit Fine One One!

For an everyday look I like to go nice and natural but always add a bit of colour to my cheek and lips as I'm so pale it helps to perk me up! Yesterday I treated myself to Benefit's newest product 'Fine One One' and couldn't wait to use it! I found out about it through Twitter as I follow the American brand and it had been released there. When I saw it was on sale in my local Boots store and had it tested on my face I couldn't resist buying it!

These are the products I used today:
Rimmel Lasting Finish foundation in 201 Classic Beige

Rimmel Match Perfection Bronzer in Light. I was worried that this would be too dark for my skin as the outer colour looks very brown but by mixing all three colours together it comes out nice and light. It has a small blue section in the middle which helps to even out skin tone.

Rimmel Colour Show Off Lipstick in Shake-Up Pink. I've had this lipstick for years and as you can see it is getting near the end of it's tether! It is a lovely light pink colour and looks brilliant on all fair skin tones or people with blonde hair. I wear it everyday and even on nights out. I'll be buying more of it soon

Rimmel liquid eyeliner, Benefit They're Real Mascara and Benefit Girl meets Pearl. I used this sample of Girl Meets Pearl from a giftset as primer today all over my face to give it a healthy glow

Benefit High Beam. This is a cult product for some but admittedly I don't use it that much! I'm trying to get back into it and get as much use of it as I can. Today I put some on my brow bones and across my cheeks to give it a nice glow.

Benefit Fine One One! I love this multi-tasking product it's great to take in your handbag for touch ups throughout the day. It contains a highlighter and pink and corally shade for lips and cheeks. You can either sweep it along your cheeks (highlighter side up) and blend together, or use a brush to select one of the shades. You can also apply one of the colours to your lips using fingers or a brush, or use it to highlight the cupids bow. I used it on my cheeks today and it comes out with a lovely natural pink tint!

Katy Perry Eylure Colour Pop Lashes Review

Following on from Katy Perry's successful Eylure false eyelashes, she has now released a range of 'Colour Pop lashes'

When I first heard about the range I expected them to be really outrageous, OTT, fluorescent lashes, but I was pleasantly surprised as the colours are actually really subtle! The range is designed to bring out your own eye colour and make it pop, so having blue eyes I tried the blue lashes - 'Ka-Boom'.

As you can see the lashes aren't completely coloured - the coloured parts are blended into black lashes.

BEFORE:

Firstly I must apologise for how I look in these photos - it was very late and I was tired so my eyes are a bit red and blotchy! I am wearing natural false lashes in these photos

AFTER:

Personally I don't think I would wear these lashes on a night out purely for the fact that they're a bit too big and voluptuous for me! I sometimes wear false lashes on nights out but only really natural looking ones or else they dominate my face! But I really like the subtlety of the colour in these lashes, I may consider them for fancy dress!

Katy Perry Colour Pop Lashes by Eylure are £6.45 for one pair and come with lash adhesive. You can buy them online at OhBeaty here.

Has anyone else tried the Colour Pop range? What did you make of them?

Kiehl's Nottingham event!

Tonight I went to the Nottingham beauty bloggers event at the Kiehl's store. I only found out about it at the last minute so was in a bit of a hurry and wasn't too sure what would be in store for us ! It was quite a small event which it made it nice and intimate and we found out about the company & it's history, got our skin tested, and got to take home a lovely goodie bag!

I walked over to the shop in the evening after uni and we were all greeted by the lovely staff and offered a selection of refreshments - the Kiehl's cupcakes were so cute!

We were then given a talk about the company's history and shown a short video, then Lizzy talked us through some of Kiehl's icon products

Kiehl's skincare was founded in New York in 1851, it started as family company but has grown ever since. All the products were of a high quality and used natural ingredients.

Testing out some of the products!

Skin consultations!

The staff used these swabs on your forehead and cheek to determine what skin type you had and then recommended products based on them.

One of the great things about these events is getting to meet other bloggers! Tonight I finally got round to meeting Abi and Hollie - we all go to the same uni and they have written articles for the uni magazine, which I'm fashion editor of.

And of course we all got to take home a goodie bag which contained these lovely products:

Sachets of Calendula Herbal-Extract Toner, Nashi Blossom & Pink Grapefruit Body Lotion (sounds delicious!), sample bottles of Ultra Facial Cleanser and Ultra Facial Moisturiser, and a full size bottle of Midnight Recovery Concentrate! The midnight recovery concentrate looks & smells amazing plus it has a really nice texture, I'm looking forward to trying that one out and will do a review of it!
