The benefits of using oils

For a long time I've avoided hair/facial/body oils for fear they'd make me spotty/greasy/slimy/sticky etc. But after trying out a few of these wonder products I can safely say I am oil convert and have noticed drastic benefits from these. There are so many on the market at the moment but here are a few that I use..

Facial Oils

Paul & Joe Facial Treatment Oil
At £28 a bottle it's easy to think this product is over hyped purely because of the packaging. I do love the classic design of this bottle, all Paul & Joe skincare has the same design and the same fresh citrus scent. Still because it is super concentrated you know you're getting your money's worth as it'll last for so long! A couple of drops is all that's needed. I prefer to use this as a weekly treatment rather than daily as it is a bit thicker than other facial oils, but I can wear it in the day under my makeup! Perfect for dry skin to add extra moisture but didn't make too much of a difference to my skin's appearance.

Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate
This has become one of my favourite skincare products! (I have already done a blog post on it which you can read here) I pop a couple of drops of this onto my face every night under my moisturiser before going to bed and wake up with brighter healthier looking skin! It isn't greasy at all and hasn't caused me to breakout much which is always a plus as it's something I worry about!

Body Oils

Bio-Oil
You will all know the hype around Bio-Oil by now and have probably seen it advertised everywhere! It has become a cult product for many. I got a bottle of this around June time and still haven't finished it so it has lasted around 8 months. To be honest I didn't really see the need for me to buy it as I didn't have any garish scars and am not too fussed about my stretch marks but wanted to see what all the fuss was about. I think I will definitely be re-purchasing it once I've run out though as it has become a part of my daily routine. I pop a couple of drops into my bath water to moisturise my skin or use it to replace a body lotion and it takes so much less time to apply and sink in. I was worried about putting this on my face for fear it would clog up my pores but as long as you use the tiniest amount it does help with my skin's appearance. I haven't noticed much of a difference to the stretch marks on my stomach but the leaflet does say you need to apply it daily for about 6 weeks to see visible results and I know I haven't been that strict with it! Even so this is a very handy product to have

Hair Oils

Macadamia Healing Oil Treatment
Another product that I wondered how I ever coped without before! When everyone was raving about Moroccan oil and Argan Oil I was too scared to use it as my hair is so fine I just assumed it would make it limp and greasy. But this tiny bottle has done wonders for my hair! I hadn't heard of Macadamia Oil before I was given this at the Birmingham Bloggers Meet Up (so many different types of hair oil at the moment!) and was excited to try it. It smells divine and running the tiniest drop through the ends of my hair when it's wet leaves my hair shiny and smooth. My hair is in such better condition since using it and feels like silk!

So I guess I'm sorry oils for ever doubting your amazing uses! Have you used any of these products? What are your favourite oil treatments? xo

  2. I'm quite scared of oils too, especially facial ones! Even though my skin's quite dry, I just feel that putting oil on my face would cause so many break outs! I love using oils on my body and hair though :) Lovely post xx
