My day at Clothes Show Live

This year was my first at Clothes Show and I was lucky enough to get a press pass through working for my university magazine. Going at the end of the university term wasn't ideal as I had rinsed most of my loan so I had to cut back on spending - and the lack of freebies was disappointing! But I managed to pick up a few bargains.

My Clothes Show outfit: Motel Vintage blouse, Accessorize necklace, American Apparel skirt, Florence & Fred at Tesco bag, Topshop boots

We arrived around half ten and spent most of the day shopping. I half expected stalls to be throwing free stuff at me as I was walking along (maybe in an ideal world) but alas the only freebie I got all day was a teeny can of coke. There were a lot of make up companies there (Bourjois, Rimmel, Barry M, Models Own) offering goodie bags for around £10 with contents worth around £30-£60. A word of warning before getting over excited at and parting with your money just so you can carry a cool looking bag around all day - have a look at the contents of the bag first. I know it sounds stupid but a lot of people probably got carried away then got home and realised they already had half of the stuff and may not even wear it.

Some of my favourite stalls from the day: Claires Accessories decorated like a Winter Wonderland, Models Own nail polishes and a Kitsch Japanese jewellery stand.

Glittery lips and tattoos from Glitz & Glam-her Glitzy Lips. Swarovski glitter for face and body.

Some of the clothing stalls were a bit tacky but there were high street stores like New Look and Vero Moda, and a lot of vintage stalls too. I think the shopping arena is better for stocking up on beauty products rather than clothes really.

Did a little bit of Street Style and these were my

Street Style: Checker tattooed lips and Barbie leggins

My purchases from the day: Asos dress (£5), Steam Cream (1 for £10, 2 for £15, 3 for £20) and recycled paper notebooks (£2 each)

I've heard a lot about Steam Cream but was a bit skeptical about it I don't trust the idea of all in one moisturisers (face and body have different needs). The only one I've tried before is Nivea Creme and it was so thick and greasy I've never used it again. Anyway I got chatting to the ladies at the stall and was interested in trying it so I bought a tin for myself and one as a Christmas present for my sister. (I'll let you know how I get on and review it soon!)

Then onto the Suzuki show! We pegged it to the 4.30 showing and were sat in the press area. The show was hosted by Grace Woodward and Henry Holland (did anyone else find their intro a little cringey?) and had the theme of a typical day at a fashion magazine - starting with a load of men walking around in boxers and finishing with a rendition of the Gangnam Style dance, brilliant.

Are you going to Clothes Show this year? Let me know your thoughts!
